Take Your Business to the Next Level will be the focus for a WIBU Boost workshop set for 3-5 p.m. May 12 in the Fisher Building Auditorium, downtown Muncie. Business owners and managers of all size businesses can explore aspects to help increase their bottom line during tough times.
WIBU (Women in Business Unlimited) is partnering with the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center to offer the workshop. Cost is $10 a person and reservations can be made online.
The May 12 program will include presentations by Ted Baker, regional director of the ECI SBDC; Scott Green, vice president, business banking department for Mutual Bank, and Peggy Cenova, business advisor and certified project management professional. The aim is to provide information and inspiration for business owners and managers to survive in a tight economy. Financial, time and project management will be among topics explored.
Baker, as regional director of the Small Business Development Center, provides business consulting and new business start-up services for entrepreneurs and existing businesses. After graduation from Ball State University in 1980, his career has included management of small businesses, starting, growing, buying and selling businesses as well as assisting with the establishment of several area not-for-profit organizations. Along with his wife, Gail, Ted owns three area Sport Clips Haircuts franchises, one in Muncie and one in Fishers, and one in Fort Wayne, IN. He is a community volunteer and serves on several local boards
Green has more than 25 years of banking experience with over 20 years in commercial lending. He is a graduate of the Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking and a graduate of the Michigan School of Business Administration for Advanced Financial Analysis for Commercial Lending. He serves on the board of Motivate Our Minds, and volunteers for several other community organizations.
Cenova is a business advisor for the ECI SBDC. She is the former owner of the specialty advertising catalog company – Straight Status Inc., which was listed in Inc. Magazine’s 500 fastest growing businesses in 1988. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University East, and an associate degree from Ball State University. She is a certified Project Management Professional. She is president of the Hagerstown Town Council, is a former officer of the National Speaker’s Association of Indiana and is a member of the Rotary Club of Hagerstown. Her expertise is in strategic planning and business sales success.
WIBU meets the third Wednesday of each month and welcomes new members at any time. There are no membership dues, and members are welcome to attend as often as they can.
