Keynote Speaker, Joyce Rogers has an incredible résumé and history of service. She served as the first COO for Indiana Black Expo and later became the first woman to serve as the organization’s President and CEO. She recently took a position at Indiana University where she is the Vice President for Development and External Relations for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs. Previously, she worked at Ivy Tech Community College and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. She has been honored with such awards as the Indianapolis Business Journal, Women of Influence, the Indiana Commission for Women Torchbearers Award, the Indiana Minority Business Coretta Scott King Matriarch Award, and the Sagamore of the Wabash Award from the State of Indiana.
Ms. Rogers is accomplished, kind, and passionate about women, leadership, and mentorship. Rogers is quoted as saying, “It is important to assist other women as they strive to reach their full potential, because we, as women, can never settle for just, ‘breaking the glass ceiling.’ We must remove it permanently and let the skies be our only limitation. We all have the ability to succeed. The difference comes with the support we receive and the choices we make in how we use it.”

“Negotiation – It’s NOT A Dirty Word!”
Peggy Cenova, Regional Director at East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center
This no-nonsense talk will give you the tools you need for win-win outcomes in the critical negotiations of your life. From getting a good price, to achieving a better salary, the art of negotiation is vital. Learn the SIX steps to successful negotiation so that you can get what you want.
Ms. Cenova brings a strong business background to her position at the INSBDC. She is the former owner of the specialty advertising catalog company – Straight Status Inc., which was listed in Inc. Magazine’s “500 Fastest Growing Businesses.” Peggy holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University East and an associate degree from Ball State University. Ms. Cenova is a Certified Project Management Professional. She is president of the Hagerstown Town Council and is a member of the Rotary Club of Hagerstown. She is a former officer of the National Speaker’s Association of Indiana. Her expertise is in strategic planning and business growth and sales success.
The Indiana SBDC specializes in providing educational, training, reviews, planning, counseling and market research services to existing and prospective small business owners and managers. The ISBDC provides assistance to entrepreneurs at every stage of business development. Clients range from individuals who need assistance in deciding if self-employment is right for them to business owners looking to expand overseas. ISBDC Business Advisors have access to nationally recognized research tools in order to help clients make calculated business decisions.

 

“Know and OWN Who You Are” and “Career Transformations: How to Reignite or Reinvent”
Lisa Dominisse, Director of Development Services, City of Marion, Indiana
Lisa Dominisse is currently serving the City of Marion, Indiana, as Director of Development Services.  She is a certified life coach and provides coaching and consulting services to individuals and small businesses through Dominisse Consultancy.  Before hanging her independent shingle, Lisa was a Sr. Partner at Human Capital Initiative (HCI), an Atlanta based management consulting firm focused on “people powered solutions.”  Lisa joined HCI after serving as the Director of Human Resources at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Previously, Lisa served as the Executive Director of the Development Corporation of North Platte (DEVCO) doing local economic development projects throughout Lincoln County.  Prior to DEVCO, Lisa was the Director of Rural Development for the State of Nebraska under former Governor Mike Johanns.  As Director of Rural Development she shepherded a series of rural development legislative initiatives, managed the 38 member commission and fostered a series of small business development initiatives geared toward entrepreneurship and minority business owners.  Lisa was a resource for rural Nebraska communities and the individuals who were interested in growing their communities and individual businesses.
Prior to rural development, Lisa served as the Director of Program Services for the Department of Economic Development.  In this position she was Executive Director of the Nebraska Diplomats, Inc., legislative liaison for DED, human resources administrator, and special projects manager.  Lisa came to DED from her position as Director of the Governor’s Western Office in Scottsbluff under former Governor Mike Johanns.
Before entering state government Lisa served as executive director of the Memorial Health Center Foundation in Sidney, Nebraska.
Lisa has traveled the world spending time in Thailand, Cuba, Europe, Mexico and South America.  She brings a keen understanding of cultural dynamics and the importance of understanding and being intentional about the culture created within companies and communities.
Lisa’s undergraduate degree is in journalism with a major in advertising and minors in music, biology, and political science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.  She is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma.  Lisa received a Master of Business Administration in 2006 from Bellevue University.
Currently, Lisa teaches online classes for the Masters of Organizational Performance degree as an adjunct professor for Bellevue University through the College of Professional Studies.  She has previous classroom teaching experience in general business.
Lisa is married with three children, ages 19, 16 and 7.

 

“Today’s Job Search Landscape”
Camille G. Mason, Assistant Director, Ball State University Career Center
Camille G. Mason is the Career Advisor for the Miller College of Business. She received her Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and her Master of Education in Community Counseling from Winthrop University.  Ms. Mason is experienced in providing comprehensive career services to a diverse population of students, including career development, job search and graduate school preparation, and major exploration.  Apart from helping students, she enjoys traveling, sewing, yoga and spending time with family and friends.
Prior to earning her master’s degree and changing careers, she spent 7 years in the private sector — first in finance as an Accounting Assistant for a manufacturer of submersible pumps, and then as a Supply Chain Analyst for a global paper manufacturer. “From Mentorship to Advocacy: Finding an Advocate and Serving as an Advocate for Others”
Sheila Spisak, Director of People Development, Muncie Power Products
Sheila Spisak, a 2013 ATHENA Award nominee, is currently the Director of People Development at Muncie Power Products where she specializes in designing and implementing professional development programs for employees, focuses on employee wellness, and creates employee training orientation programs. In her previous positions at Ball State University, Xavier University, and Ball Corporation she was instrumental in departmental reorganization procedures, managed career services departments, created employee handbooks and wrote job descriptions, conducted audits and assisted students, faculty and alumni with job search strategies. Sheila is very active in the community. In collaboration with LEAD-ECI, she co-founded the HR Roundtable for local HR executives to meet and discuss relevant topics in the rapidly changing HR field. Sheila serves on the United Way of Delaware County Board and she serves on the board of Directors of East Central Indiana Human Resources Association. Sheila is revered in the human resources world, corporate and academic arenas for her expertise and professionalism. She has continuously been involved in “people development” and empowering women in the workforce.
