Debra Jones Price, WIBU President and Jamie Faulkner, 2007 WIBU ATHENA Co-Chair will brief the members on the ATHENA International Conference they attended in late April.   The ATHENA Leadership Model is unique in that it focuses on personal traits of strong, successful leaders. It captures the spirit and collaborative leadership style often exemplified in women leaders, while also recognizing the importance of traits such as courageous acts and fierce advocacy in the pursuit of excellence.

The ATHENA Leadership Model tenets include Authentic Self, Celebration and Joy, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Fierce Advocacy, Giving Back, Learning and Relationships, and provides a model for 21st Century leadership.

Athena Award Nominations
On September 19, WIBU hosts its annual  2007 ATHENA Award Luncheon.  Martha Lampkin, CEO of the Lumina Foundation has accepted our invitation to be the keynote speaker.  Award nominations will be solicited in May and June.  More information will be forthcoming soon.  Sponsorships for the luncheon are still available. Sponsorship information can be found on the  WIBU website or by contacting Sara Shade, Athena Sponsorship Chair.

Luncheon Cost  Increase
The WIBU Board and its membership strive to keep costs reasonable. Due to increased food costs, the cost to attend regular luncheon meetings has increased by $1. Effective with the April meeting, the cost for luncheon reservations is $13. There are no membership dues for WIBU.

Distribution of Promotional Materials

WIBU is a networking organization.  Those members who wish to share promotional items, products or product information to the meetings are encouraged to do so and should place them on the chairs rather than the tables, before the meeting begins. 

RESERVATIONS
Reservations for the May luncheon meeting should be made by noon, Friday, May 11th.  Lunch is $13.

If you cannot attend and have not cancelled a previously made reservation by the deadline, you may send a friend or co-worker in your place.    Receipts are available.  Unpaid reservations will be billed to the person who made the reservation.
