Ted Baker currently serves as Executive Director for the Muncie Innovation Connector, Inc. After graduation from Ball State University in 1980, his career journey has included management of small businesses, starting, growing, buying and selling businesses as well as assisting with the establishment of several area not-for-profit organizations. Along with his wife, Gail, Ted co-owns three area Sport Clips Haircuts franchises, one in Muncie and two in Fort Wayne, IN. Within Sport Clips, he serves on the Team Leader Business Council for the Indiana & Kentucky area. Ted has extensive experience with franchisee/franchisor relations and has led training and informational seminars on the subject as well as workshops in many other business disciplines. Ted is a Certified Incubator Manager with the National Business Incubator Association as well as a Certified StartUp/Growth Wheel business advisor. Because of his extensive business ownership experience and with his current position as a business consultant, Ted offers a unique, practical, and realistic insight to business owners and potential business owners as well as audiences at conferences and seminars to which he regularly presents.
Volunteer efforts include serving on the Ball State University’s Miller College of Business Marketing Advisory Board and chairs the Ball State University’s highly ranked Entrepreneurship program’s Advisory Board. Ted also teaches part time in the Miller College of Business at BSU. He was instrumental in the start up of two non-profit organizations: Interlink Resources, Inc/Interlink Kids Connection and First Choice for Women Pregnancy Care Center. His family attends Commonway Church in Muncie. Ted is chairperson for the Hillcroft Services Board of Directors and serves on the Board of Directors for Muncie Rotary International, the State Advisory Board for the Indiana Small Business Development Centers, Ivy Tech’s Muncie Campus Business Advisory Board, the Boys and Girls Club of Muncie and Inside/Out in Muncie. Ted enjoys spending time with his wife, Gail, and four children, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren. An avid sports fan, Ted enjoys Ball State and Notre Dame sporting events (especially football), watching sports of any kind, and playing golf.
